Dishing out a certain flavor of ageless-sounding gritty-electro, Anwar Dawas and Kris Hall of Brokntoys have made their mark as a fresh label with a unique underground appeal. Recently hitting a milestone 20 releases, the UK label has been a steady stream of go-to acid for four years running. Pairing limited run wax with self-distributed digital editions, Brokntoys paved the way for a health label model built on word of mouth and set support. BT20 is no different as the first tune introduces Dutch producer Caron.
Arriving just after the label’s 5-track VA, Caron’s ‘Haunted Memory’ seems to be lining up as another stunning production. Dark and cosmic, the first track ‘Reflection’ is late night anthem channeling a Requiem For a Dream-esque danger. Foreboding strings set an ominous tone for a modular journey through intricate studio work.
With wax like this in high demand, 2018 is shaping up to be a defining year for the emerging label. Curating sounds for psychedelic and synthetic seekers, Brokntoys is a discography that you should relate.
