Label boss and local legend Idriss D has made quite an impact over the past decade in dance. As a Dj, producer, and all-around industry mover, this guy has his hands in the biggest imprints of European house music. The spark began on the Italian coast where as a young Dj his local stomping grounds were the iconic pyramid of Cocoricò. It's no surprise that his prowess of club culture would lead to a cunning influence on the scene across the continent.
After launching Memento as a haven for local talent, Idriss has grown the imprint to an international name growing emerging artists. With a knack for introducing names to the global stage, the label's organic Italian style is combined with a German club sound for an underground blend of late night Mediterranean. After some months of quiet, Memento is back with a crisp EP from the man himself. Labeled Dib003 as a personal cat, the release will arrive May fourth.
Title track 'Khomsa' gets things rolling with a pulsing percussion suite which paints a familiar picture of the dance floor. A consistent pace is the name of the game across this house-heavy EP. B-side 'Stability' introduces acid chords for driving heater before rounding out the release with a subtle but cosmic finale in 'Watching My Self'.
In total, Khomsa provides some solid filler for any crate. With decades of experience behind the decks, Idriss sure knows how to provide a floor-filling groove. Keep watch for more from his tastemaker Italian imprint Memento Records.
