UK producer, Lee Gamble has approached dance music differently for quite some time now. Described as an experimentalist, even Gamble’s earliest productions enlisted his own code-level programming skill to hack the way computers replicated synthesis. Now over a decade in a career of pioneer electronic music he prepares a three part release on the timeless Hyperdub imprint.
When diving in the albums influences, the deep part of Gamble’s approach is revealed. As a whole, Flush Real Pharynx, loosely explores three stages of the Semioblitz – the aggressive onslaught of visual & sonic stimuli of contemporary cities & virtual spaces. Exhaust, part two of the triptych, is a raw look at something we can’t really describe. The sound is delightfully unruly and industrial by nature.
Exhaust, explores the world as we know it – explosive, chaotic, unpredictable, contradictory, intoxicating, hyper-colourful, blown-apart and disturbingly engaging in its surreality.Hyperdub
No stranger to Kode9’s Hyperdub outlet, Gamble’s return to the label marks another significant milestone in his discography. Well know for his own label UIQ, essential records on PAN, and his studies of mechanics and dimensions of computer music; Gamble it solidifying a space in the evolution of production as a whole. Keep watch for Exhaust on November 15th.
