The legend returns as UK-producer Erol Alkan announces two welcomed originals due out this month. It’s no surprise that Erol Alkan took some time for himself over the past 5 years. He and a small crew were almost solely responsible for bringing respectable electro to the dancefloor. As the states completed detroyed all that was respected in dance music by birthing EDM, Erol and primarily the BNR crew kept it real with gritty dance floor sounds rooted in quality production.
These originals come after a slew of high-profile reworks for names Depeche Mode, Todd Terje and Gerd Janson & Philip Lauer’s Tuff City Kids featuring Joe Goddard. Now Erol returns to his own Phantasy Sound for a double two-track 12″ that reflects a mature yet raw floor vibe. Showcasing both mastery of the studio and diversity in underground tastes, Spectrum / Silver Echoes is fit for listening but made for the dancers.
“Of all the club records I’ve made, these are two that came together far more naturally. Perhaps it’s because I made them for myself, but I hope others will find something in them too.”
A perfect summation of both past and contemporary influences, as well as a lifelong open-minded stance, ‘Spectrum’ and ‘Silver Echoes’, each capture a side of Alkan’s always-evolving energy and technique, mixing his studio prowess with a timeless instinct rooted within the communal potential of the dancefloor.
Erol Alkan ‘Spectrum/Silver Echoes’ drops on Phantasy Sound on 9th November. Pre-order the limited edition 12″ vinyl edition direct from Phantasy to be in with a chance to win a signed test pressing of the record.
