Spontaneity and improvisation are all but gone in most of the headliner of today’s dance landscape. Swedish artist Sebastian Mullaert is out to change that with a new label concept ‘Circle of Live’. Focused on recordings rooted in a live setting, the label aims to capture the moment and press it for the racks. Reflected in the abstract logo, Circle of Live releases have no bounds. The debut features three live cuts of an original, that’s it. Chopping samples, taking influences, and creating anew is the core culture of dance music. Mullaert’s imprint will embody that theme, showcasing artistry in the moment.
“The main intention with Circle of Live is to inspire people to improvise; let their life be an improvisation; a spontaneous expression of life. In one perspective this is a concept with clear visions and definitions but at the same time the core aim of the project is to allow both us, the artists, and the audience to drop concepts and habitual patterns in the creative process of dance and music.”
Mullaert and Eitan Reiter have been collaborators for some time now. After first collecting on 2014 Mule Musiq album ‘Reflections of Nothingness’, the duo began touring live. The original ‘Loop for Today’ first appeared on Eitan’s solo album ‘Give it Life’. It seemed natural for Mullaert to take a cut out of the original. Instead of a normal remix it became an adventure out to the Dead Sea after Sebastian’s gig at the Block Festival 2017. As a result, the remix is an on the spot jam out in the desert … one take while the sun is going down. No time to think or plan, only the option to surrender to the situation and let creativity run its course. This is the ethos of Circle of Live in general, regardless of whether the expression is happening on stage or in the studio. Back in the dense Swedish woodland, Sebastian made two more remixes under his Wa Wu We moniker, and Circle of Live was born.
Artists confirmed to take part in this inspiring new adventure are Ame (Live), Aurora Halal, Dorisburg, Eitan Reiter, Johanna Knutsson, Leafar Legov, Ljudbilden & Piloten, Mathew Jonson, Neel, Steevio & SuzyBee, Tobias. and The Mole. The Circle Of Live imprint will release spontaneous live jams you won’t want to miss. Keep watch for this exciting brand live, always.
