Brainchild of London-based promoter and all around girl boss Isis Salvaterra, Toi Toi is an evolution of the agency concept centered around the dance floor. Sprouting from a passion for curation and an ear for sounds, the label just hit their 8th year as much more than just an outlet for records. Focused on timeless sounds of punchy digitalism, Toi Toi catalog compliments the event brand as a masterclass is sustainable tastemaking. As Isis and crew hit their sixth release, it's a milestone record from a dance floor spirit animal.
TT06 overflows with groove as the master Ricardo Villalobos joins forces with Venezuelan producer and fellow Cadenza label mate Argenis Brito. Staying true to both producers' South American rooms, organic percussion and spoken vox deliver a tribal house feel familiar in their catalog.
A-side 'El Malekon' kicks things off. Mechanic and broken vocals materialize throughout the whole length of the track, with echoes of conversation pieces following through. Percussions and basslines are scientifically mixed for what results to be a deep and groovy minimal piece. Premiered on Fabric, the back side 'Rikileaks' takes in subdued drum squelches and a distorted vocal across a typically enduring 11-minute playtime.
For any house selekta with a deep crate, this is essential. Raw percussion intertwined with an afters chant, you can't go wrong with these vibes. Villalobos behind the decks and a journey through groove and this tastemaker twelve inch is proof of it.
